Sabrina Devonshire, an avid swimmer most of her life, can usually be found near or immersed in a body of water. If she's not seeking an endorphin rush in a pool, lake or ocean, she's often encouraging people to work out or writing a romantic suspense or magazine article. She received a John Woods Scholarship and an Arizona Commission of the Arts Professional Development Grant toward her participation in a 2007 Prague Summer Program writing workshop. She also studied writing in Arizona and northern California and has a M.S. degree from the University of Arizona. Sabrina loves traveling to off-the-beaten-path places where phones and electronic devices tend not to work well. Peru and Belize are two of her favorites. Sabrina lives in southern Arizona with her husband, two children, and fluffy dog, Sugar.

Wow! Drama, action, suspense and romance!

This is a super exciting book. The author knows how to create tension, not just with the SEAL team and the action scenes but between the characters as well. French Kiss (Navy SEALs of Valor Book 3) by Sabrina Devonshire is a tense tale of suspense that’s filled with action and heat. The chemistry between Karl and Jamie was hot! I knew at chapter one we were going to be in for more than just a fun romance. “Crouched outside a seventeenth century duplex on Rue Charlot in Le Marais, Karl Patterson gripped his weapon tighter to secure it in his sweating palms . . . ” Soon it became apparent the team had stumbled into a trap. The author paints drama into every scene. Luckily for Jamie and the SEAL team Jamie is more than just another pretty face – she’s smart and tough. This was so much fun. After this I’m definitely getting the first two books in the series, Amalfi Affair and Czech Mate. Loved it! Five Stars.

A Flop and a Half.

All of the characters are underdeveloped.
The sex scenes are prolific, but uninspired. I skipped past all of them, which means I skipped half of the book.
The female protagonist and the female antagonist are both unbelievable.
The protagonist's actions at the airport were particularly difficult to swallow, as were the SEAL team's reactions to her.
The antagonist's dialog fell flat every single time. She was a cardboard cutout of a stereotypical bad guy. I could just imagine her yelling BWAHAHAHAHA after every "bad guy" line she delivered.

The author's writing style was not where it should be for someone attempting to profit from their writing. Since I borrowed this book via my Kindle Unlimited account, I can't complain about the cost. However, I would never recommend someone pay for this story. Especially since I can't even recommend reading it for free.

My suggestion is that you read "Last Tango in Manaus" instead. It's a far superior story in this genre, and also available through Kindle Unlimited.

Thrilling and Sexy!

I can’t say enough good things about the Navy Seals of Valor Series. Amalfi Affair and Czech Mate blew my socks off. And, as expected, French Kiss was just as thrilling and sexy as the first two. Each book leading up to this one has had amazing heroes and heroines. In French Kiss, it’s the hot as hell and tough as nails Karl Patterson beside the beautiful, smart and equally tough Jamie Phillips. The intensity and heat level of this book sets each page aflame. I can’t think of anything more precarious and dangerous than a mission to thwart terrorists. I was literally on the edge of my seat the entire read. Throw in the insatiable attraction between Karl and Jamie, against a Paris backdrop, and you’ve got a real winner. If you enjoy action and adventure mixed with a healthy dose of steamy romance, you’ll love French Kiss.

About the Author

Robert Gendler is a physician who began doing CCD astrophotography in the early 1990s. He spent his first decade imaging from his home using a portable setup. With advances in Internet accessibility and worsening light pollution at home, Gendler began imaging remotely in 2005 from observatories in the southwestern United States and later in Australia. Gendler now spends much of his time mining professional astronomical archives and assembling unique composite images from a wide variety of data sources, including the Hubble Space Telescope, Japan's 8.2 meter Subaru Telescope, and various ground-based professional and amateur systems.

Gendler has published four books on astrophotography including A Year in the Life of the Universe (Voyageur Press, 2006), Capturing the Stars: Astrophotography by the Masters (Voyageur Press, 2009), Treasures of the Southern Sky (Springer, 2011) and most recently Lessons from the Masters: Current Concepts in Astronomical Image Processing (Springer, 2013).

In 2008, he was featured in the PBS documentary Seeing in the Dark by Timothy Ferris, who referred to Gendler as “one of the great astrophotographers in all of history.” Gendler's images have been featured in two national stamp series (United Kingdom 2007, Germany 2011). In 2007 he was the recipient of the "Hubble Award" at AIC. His images have been featured by the NASA site "Astronomy Picture of the Day" over 10

0 times. This work has earned him international recognition and has led to professional collaborations with NASA’s Hubble Heritage team on two Hubble Space Telescope projects (M106 in February 2013, and M31 in February 2015).

R. Jay GaBany, by profession, is an eCommerce product manager working in California and the recipient of five patents for innovations in his field. Over the last decade he has earned a reputation as an elite astrophotographer. His work has been highly recognized internationally. He has also distinguished himself by his collaborations with professional astronomers such as his work with Dr. David Martinez-Delgado on tidal streams produced by galaxy mergers.

GaBany has coauthored several significant scientific papers on the subject. For his contributions at the professional level he was given the Chambliss Award by the American Astronomical Society.

Among his many other accomplishments GaBany’s image of NGC 3521 was selected as the backdrop for the official crew portrait of Expedition 30 to the International Space Station. Incredibly, in 2012, he was selected by Time magazine" as one of "The 25 Most Influential

People in Space."

Breakthrough!....a future classic

Breakthrough! 100 Astronomical Images that Changed the World, by Robert Gendler and R. Jay GaBany is a monumental work, worthy of its title and subject. Don't buy the Kindle version. To fully appreciate this great work, purchase the hardcover and run your fingers across the luxurious pages as your eyes drink in the imagery. This is a quality product, befitting the subject matter.
This book appeals to me because it spans beyond the realm of what many astronomical dilettantes refer to as "pretty pictures" that pollute popular astrophotography in the first decade of the 21st century. Beginner through experienced amateur and professional astronomers will appreciate the painstaking descriptions surrounding each of the 100 images. My only criticism is that I would have liked to see references beyond the image sources and a more detailed index.
Breakthrough! is presented chronologically, beginning with a wonderful introductory chapter on the birth and evolution of astrophotography. Notably, this book led me to reconsider the co-development of telescopes and photography and how our understanding of the Universe would be different had either technology not advanced. Pay close attention to this stage-setter chapter and you will be rewarded with a deeper appreciation for the giants who went before us.
The authors weave their own world-changing images into the top-100 with the humility one would expect of such highly respected practitioners. Breakthrough! is timeless...a future classic.

Great Book for Astrophotographers!

I received this book on Monday and had eaten it up within two days. It's not just the pictures that are fascinating, but the story behind how they came to be acquired. As an astroimager myself, I can really appreciate the stories of challenges met and challenges solved through the history of this field of science and art. Highly recommended!

Great book with lots of details on treatment options

Before I begin my review, I have to tell you that my knowledge in Chemistry is very basic. This book is well written. It starts off with a nice introduction on water treatment and then gets into the details of treatment. This is the first book I have read on mine water treatment and I have to say that the authors made my life easier because I didn't have to struggle in understanding the concepts. Sure, if you have a chemistry background it will enhance your experience but even without that, you will do great.
I am really glad that I bought this book as my first text in understanding this complicated subject. It has given me a good foundation on mine water treatment and I feel fairly confident in taking slight more involved textbooks.
Highly recommend this book!

Simply the best book on mine water treatment. Period. I have been a consulting engineer dealing with environmental problems for over 20 years now - and this is my "go to" book on the subject.

Yes, there is a high reliance on empirical equations... But the reality is that most data sets in the mine water remediation field do not allow a more detailed analysis.

Globally, the mining industry is grappling with a huge paradigm shift as remediation costs are increasingly internalized as part of the "cost of doing business" rather than a cost that can be (hypothetically) externalized and avoided. Mine waste projects typically deal on time scales of decades and centuries and this is where natural treatment solutions (like the ones described in this book) really come to the forefront.

If you are in the mining industry, or deal with mine wastes, you need this book on your shelf. If a better book can be written, I welcome the authors; otherwise I would consider this to be the best that can be written on the subject without a quantum leap in data collection.
