Excellent Guide but Cheap Binding

First off, let me say that this is an excellent and very informative guide to modern non-sports cards. Indeed, it seems to be about the best (or only?) one available for the 1985-2006 time period it covers. Others have commented about confusion with the card photos on the sides, but if you can't figure those out, you're probably frustrated with much more in life than this guide.

The only downside that I have found to this guide is the extremely cheap binding used. Rather than being stitched (preferable for a thick guide that will see lots of use) or even glued securely, the glue used for the binding is akin to that used for postcard "books" where the cards are meant to be removed. I purchased the book new, and after a week of moderate use, the glue had "split" so that the book always falls open to the same page and you can see the back of the cover/spine through the split glue. After another week of use, pages are falling out. This is so frustrating for me, I may actually take the time to scan each page (since they are easily removable now) and keep it in pdf format on my computer rather than pulling the quickly-degrading book from the shelf each time I need to look something up.

Layout Needs Help, Otherwise Handy

The Encyclopedia of Non-Sport & Entertainment Trading Cards Volume 1: 1985-2006 is a useful guide if you deal in these product lines as I do. The pricing seems to accurately reflect marketplace trends. My one complaint is the layout of the pages themselves: I dislike the way this book is laid out because in some cases it is hard to tell exactly which picture they are speaking of in the text. They may talk about 10 different items or years of items on a page and then only show two pictures in the margins. The way it is laid out, it can be confusing as to what is being referred to. Otherwise, its a useful addition to any collector's shelf.

A Must Have for any Card Collector!

I just got this book in the mail today and I am quite impressed. It's even better than I expected. This book is freaking awesome! It includes facts, collector's values, and even color pictures for every non-sport trading card imaginable from 1985-2006; chase sets, variants, promos, and all. It's got everything: comic cards, monster cards, movie cards, t.v. cards, wrestling cards, girl pin-up cards, Garbage Pail Kids, EVERYTHING! It's ordered in alphabetical order by sets, but includes an autograph and artist index for quick reference. It's even got an autograph gallery so you can compare to real autographs! It's printed by Non-Sport Update, so everything in it is sure to reliable. This is a MUST HAVE for any card collector, I highly recommend it.

As a land of contrasts , from the deserts of the Negev to the lush valleys of the Galil , from the tough and wonderful young Sabras to the ultra-Orthodox Jews of Jerusalem and Safed , Uris takes us on a journey through Israel's glorious past , hopeful present and divine future.

LOL No, really, it was helpful to know what he was thinking during that time when it is hard to ask a man what he is thinking, as you are getting to know him. I highly recommend this book to help someone make it though the dating process.

Great Advise for Women about men!

This book impacted my current relationship greatly! It taught me to just sit back and be taken care of (for once in my life) in a relationship. Instead of thinking "What can I do tonight to get this guy to like me?" before a date, I changed my thinking and ask myself "I wonder what he'll do for me tonight, where will he take me, what will we talk about that interests me, how will he try to make me feel special? What should I wear that makes ME feel good? I wonder if I'LL feel a stronger spark tonight because of how he takes care of me? I wonder if I like this guy, maybe I'll figure it out more tonight...this is exciting!" And when he did these things I simply said, I like that, thank you...no need to return any favors.

I also recommend "Getting to I Do" by Pat Allen. Reading them together has helped me navigate my current relationship and I've never felt happier and more relaxed dating!

It was a helpful book to read about how to weather the ups and downs of playing the "dating game." Which is something I needed after trying to start dating again after a ten year relationship ended.

One thing to note, this book is all about building HEALTHY lasting relationships through the five stages of dating. If you're reading this book hoping for answers, and you're in a casual relationship (i.e., Friends with Benefits, Booty Calls, Unavailable, etc...) stop now... This book will not help you. Read Mr. Unavailable and the Fallback Girl instead.

About the Author
I commenced research into spinal pain, in 1972, when essentially nothing was known about the problem. There being no established groups or departments working on this problem, I forged my own career, using borrowed resources. I commenced in a Department of Anatomy, where I pursued the innervation of the vertebral column as a fundamental element in understanding the sources and mechanisms of spinal pain. Professor Jim Lance fostered this interest, and accommodated my PhD studies. In his department I continued my anatomy studies but was able also to commence clinical applications. I developed and tested new diagnostic and surgical procedures for back pain and for neck pain. While in Professor Lance's Department, I participated in laboratory studies of the mechanisms of migraine. At the University of Queensland I continued to develop and apply the diagnostic and surgical techniques that I started at the University of NSW, serving as an honorary medical officer at the Pain Clinic of Princess Alexandra Hospital. Meanwhile I supervised science and medicine postgraduate students who undertook basic science studies into the biomechanics of the back and neck. At the University of Newcastle, I had established a reputation sufficient to attract a grant from the Motor Accidents Authority of NSW to investigate the cause and treatment of neck pain after whiplash. The grant supported three PhD students over a six year period. They performed studies that validated the diagnostic procedures and which tested the surgical procedures in a placebo-controlled double-blind randomized trial. Having established an international standing in the development and testing of treatments for spinal pain, I participated in the design and analysis of controlled trials conducted elsewhere in Australia and in the USA. These tested the efficacy of: lumbar radiofrequency neurotomy for back pain, intradiscal electrothermal anuloplasty for back pain, prolotherapy for back pain, exercises for neck pain. Between 1997 and 2002 I conducted the National Musculoskeletal Medicine Initiative which developed and tested evidence-based practice guidelines for the management of back pain, neck pain, shoulder pain, knee pain, and pain in the foot, wrist, and elbow. My work has been awarded the Volvo Award for Back Pain Research, the Research Prize of the Cervical Spine Research Society, the Award for Outstanding Research of the North American Spine Society, and three times the Research Prize of the Spine Society of Australia. My students have been awarded research prizes by the International Association for the Study of Pain, the Australian Rheumatology Association, and the Australian New Zealand College of Anaesthetists. I have never had a funded department to which to attract investigators and academics. I have relied on scholarships for students, and the goodwill of private practitioners who wished to contribute to clinical research. Of late, I have been supervising Neurosurgery residents undertaking studies of the outcomes of treatment for Radicular pain and back pain.

I absolutely love this book

This is probably the third or fourth edition that I have bought, and there is no doubt: Bogduk is the King of spinal anatomy. I absolutely love this book, and only wish that he would publish a book on the cervical and thoracic spine! It's a must-have for any spine care professional.

Bogduk is the best!

Mr. Bogduk has a great command of the litterature, and is a clinican. This is the way anatomy should be taught! Every data that is presented is supported by the litterature in some way, and is linked to pathology and clinical presentations. Just wonderful!

About the Author
Evelio Padilla, ELEUNION, Caracas, Venezuela
With over a decade of experience in substation control systems, Evelio Padilla has project managed numerous substation designs and constructions and has written several relevant technical publications. He is currently a consultant at ELEUNION C.A., which is dedicated to supplying high and medium voltage apparatus and components to electrical utilities and general industries. Previously, as Substation Division Manager at EDELCA (now CORPOELEC), he was responsible for design and construction of substations including technical specification, bids analysis, contracting procedure, review of detailed design, follow-up on the milestones, follow-up on the site work progress regularly. He was also Head of Substation Engineering Department, responsible for basic design of high voltage substations including preparation of technical specification for purchase order of secondary items, bids analysis, review of detailed design.

In my view, this book describes the main constructive characteristics and functional principles of very high voltage substations. It also offers in a detailed and comprehensive manner a myriad of useful technical aspects, and managerial strategies for the design of secondary electrical systems according to the latest technologies.
I strongly recommend it for everyone involved in the design and construction of very high voltage power systems. But since this book is a whole treatise on substations of any voltage level, it will also be useful for young engineers entering the electrical power system business.
I particularly like the chapter related to technological trends, but what I love most are the pictures inside this book.

The only book you'll need

George's book is the only one you'll need to do your statistics. It got me through graduate school. Field's book is good too, but contains much more math than some of us need to see. If you want something that will clearly and simply tell you what buttons to push to do what you need to write your thesis or dissertation, George's book is one you want.
